Oscar-nominated 'Emilia Pérez' actress Karla Sofía Gascón has apologised for her past social media posts and will reportedly not be attending awards events in the run-up to the final round of Oscar voting.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the film's embattled best actress Oscar nominee Karla Sofía Gascón will no longer be coming to the U.S. for any of this week's many awards activities.

"Emilia Pérez" has faced controversy and criticism for various reasons. Among the most prominent is its portrayal of Mexico. The movie’s director, Jacques Audiard, is French, and none of its three lead cast members are of Mexican descent. Only one member of the core cast, Adriana Paz, is from Mexico.
