(CNN)– A newer strain of the bird flu virus has been detected in Nevada. According to the Nevada Department of Agriculture, 6 dairy herds in the state tested positive for a newer strain named D1.1.
Bird flu can be transmitted from infected birds to other animals and potentially humans directly from the birds, virus-contaminated environments or an infected animal, according to the CDC.
